Run your vette for a half hour in the garage (Door Open).
To charge the system, do you think it hurts it or not.
Just ran mine for 30 minutes. Hasen't beem driven for the last month. While moving the shifter thru the gears.
Let me know.
thank-You

Re: Does it hurt too (oldace84)
It hurts me to just see it sit in the driveway, so I take it out almost everyday.
I'm pretty sure it won't rust but I am sure that I feel better when I'm driving it and not looking at it sit there. Of course the down side is that I wash it atleast every other day. :seeya Drove around yesterday with the top off and watched it get a bit of snow on it today while I was out working. But
I still got the grin while driving it back home. :hurray:
You should drive it for the 30 min instead of letting it idle. Once the oil temp hits 180F keep on keepin' on for another 15 or 20 minutes to help remove moisture from the crankcase. :yesnod: Do this at least every 10 days.
When you all do that, your looking for Oil Temps not Coolant Temps right. You'd want the oil temp to come to normal ops to burn off condensation and such inside the engine.
I have determined after all these years of seeking a nice car (my Corvette) that I am going to drive it. It looks good and is not a show car so I drive it. In the snow, in the rain and on nice days. I have not had the roof off in about six weeks but I am driving it...
But what really hurts is ..... the new heater core that I took my time (two weeks) to install is leaking.
This afternoon I reinstalled the heater bypass tube and I am still driving it--without heat.
After all the interior is not very roomy and my body heat is all I need. :nopity
I do it not only for the internal equipment, but to heat up the garage too. My routine is 30 minutes or more running about once every couple of weeks... it has kept the 'ole 84 on the road for nearly 20 years. When I wake up from my nap, everything seems OK. Is it the best method? I don't know. But it has been relatively reliable if nothing else. It certianly keeps the seals soft and the battery charged.
btw, if you are in HB, why aren't you putting mile after mile on that vette? Sure it might not be practical, but not as impractical driving it in 12" of snow.
