Just finished changing my spark plugs...What a pain in the azz. I couldn't believe how hard some of them are to get to. The far back one on the passenger side was a total pain. Well, at least it's done. Cleaned my TB too, wasn't too bad, but she is nice and shiny now!

The DS wasn't bad at all, once I unbolted and moved the ASR out of the way. The PS worked out OK, but only after I found the "right" combination of ratchet and extension. What worked for me was a ratchet that has a joint right below the head. This ratchet is also very thin front to back. My regular ratchet (along with an extension) wouldn't fit in the space behind the #8 plug, but swivel ratchet (at only 1/8" thinner) made the job go easy.
Now that I've done it twice, I think that I could change all 8 plugs in about a half hour.
Anybody got a good procedure for changing the wires?

Re: Plug Change (rhay)
The only one to give me any grief was the front passenger side (cylinder # 2) as I had to pull the tire, remove an access panel and disconnect a couple of hoses to get it out. And if you have aluminum heads like I do the anti-sieze is a necessity.
My son gave me a spark plug removal tool for fathers day. It is a ratchet and has a rod on the end of the handle which allows you to spin out the plug with ease. I think it came from NAPA. Changing out plugs on a C4 is never easy, but this tool really helps me!

Re: Plug Change (rhay)
My 95 LT1 is a piece of cake to change plugs in compared to a friends 96 LT1 Trans Am. Sheesh. it was a freakin' nightmare. The plug wires on my car were much more of a pain than the plugs, mainly on the drivers side. I put on the high dollar 8.5 MSDs so hopefully I wont have to do it again anytime soon. I think the guy who designed the late model ignition systems on these cars has some sadistic tendencies........... :banghead:
