...i think i have been priced out of a c5 and so have found a c4 at h&h covette in fla, they are offering a coupe with 1900 miles on it for $24.9k(been in storage they say) and so i am in the midst of asking questions right now. if anyone has any opinions or has done business with these guys please let me know. i am located in the pacific northwest.
Can't say anything directly about them, but I can say that generally dealers ask much more for cars than you can get off an individual. $24,900 for a C4 is really high unless it's a ZR1 or Grand Sport. Please give us more details about the car and check out the C4's for sale section here as there are some terrific buys on it and Forum members tend to be very honest when selling and very reasonable with their asking prices. Good luck in your hunt.
....NOTHING ANY DIFFERENT EXCEPT IT HAS Z07 SUSPENSION.......BUT WHAT KIND OF AN OPTION IS THAT?.......AND BESIDES....I WAS WANTING A 6 SPEED.....AND IT IS AUTOMATIC.....
Walk away from the deal. Too much $$ and too few miles. Yes, too few miles if if it is 1900 and you didn't typo and really mean 19,000. That engine has never even completed a full break-in and its been sitting around probably building up some corrosion in the engine internals unless it was thoroughly and professionally pickeled and sealed in humidity and temp controlled area long-term.
Try to find one with at least 15,000 miles, and don;t automatically reject one with high mileage if the owner can show you complete maintenance records.
Try to get the newest model year you can afford. For a lot less than that stealership wants you can get a '96 with the LT4 engine which will be a 6-speed like you want, probably find one like this in the mid to high teens dollar-wise speaking dependent on mileage and condition. The LT4 egine was only put in Corvettes in 1996 and always had a 6-speed trans trans w/ the LT4 pkg. LT4 officially rated @330hp but in reality it may be closer to 340 or even 350hp. GM seems to have under-rated it.

...yes....1900 is what they show......and the BIG question i had is just where this vehicle had been....just sitting somewhere and indeed....had the engine been pickled for 11 years.....and too much money.....sure contemplating putting an ad in the forum.......
Main thing is don't get in a hurry, take your time and enjoy the hunt for the right C4 for you. Be sure to post here to the forum info on the candidates you come accross, most of us here never tire of giving our editorial opinions on the car being looked at, along with advice based on our own experiences with the breed... :smash:

a great car if you want to continue looking at it... but the bigger problem is seals and such.
just about every engine seal and weather seal is going to be dead or dying.
I would bet that within 10k miles, you would have more trouble than you could EVER imagine. :leaving:
25k is too much loot. Look around you will find c5s for less.. The other thing is 1900 miles means this car is good at one thing...sitting still. You will wind up spending another couple grand on all the stuff that should have been relpaced already. Good luck and take your time ...your car is out there, you will find it. :chevy

This is a great idea.. You'll find that the people on this forum are a LOT more honest then any sales man out there!!!
$24.900. is out of the question. At last nights Barrett-Jackson auction an 86 that had belonged to Jonny Carson sold for $10,500. A split window for $32,000 and a 60 vert for $22,500. Got to wonder what is going on with Vette prices. If it makes anyone feel any better, two Vipers, both 97s went for 47k and 48k.

Re: checking on a c4 (corvette1271)
As others have said here, the low miles run up a red flag. Look at http://www.corvettetrader.com these are mostly private owners and since it is the middle of winter you should be able to get a good buy on one of them. If you find something too far away just ask that a local (to the area) Forum member go test drive the car for you and let you know what they think. I did this wilth the one I own and drove it back home 1300 miles with no problems. Best of luck! :)

The higher dollar stuff will go over the next couple of days - I believe the 60 vert had no matching numbers and bad paint and chrome...
If you're on the right coast why buy a left coast car?
In the People's Republic of California you can buy all the 95-96 Corvettes you want for less than $16k.
C5's can be had for $25k. http://www.autotrader.com use a 90041 zip and a 95018 zip.
Good luck with the hunt.
