Default One last Car Audio System question...

Ok, Ive finally figured out what I want and need for my bose replacement system.

Amp- Kenwood KAC-8151D with bass remote. 1000 watts

Subs- (2) Cerwin Vega, Vega Series 10" duel voice coils.

Door Speakers- Cerwin Vega 602 6"

Rear speaker- Cerwin Vega 6X9

Subs will be in a Box I will build, Amp mounted on side of rear cargo area. 4 Gauge wiring throughout.
Amp is 4 channel (4X250) so Im going to run 2 channel to each sub, and one channel to the door speakers, one to the rears.

My question is, would an ALpine 9803 work? as a head unit?

amp says minimal impedance unbridged is 1 ohm.

amp- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...EBWA%3AIT&rd=1

Subs are: 4 ohms/voice coil. http://www.cerwinvega.com/products/m...dio/index.html

here's what I wuold do:

step 1: go to ikesound.com find the Hifonics Brutus 1000 watt amp

go to sounddomain.com find hte same amp. Request a price match, so Soudndomain will give you ikesounds price.

Get Brutus from Sounddomain (Brand new in box from a reputable dealer.) It will cost you $70 more or so. This would be a safer bet.

wire subs in parallel parallel to the brutus.

Buy earplugs for $.88

Enjoy 500 watts per side.

With the Kenwood, you only get 250 watts per side.

What kind of amp are you going to use for your fronts?

I was going to run the fronts off the Kenwood.

I talked to a buddy that did a little tinkering in moile audio, and he said at that I can run the subs off the Kenwood. 1 channel per sub, 250 each, 500 total. All I need. its a little car! Then Run the fronts off of another channel. The fronts have biuld in crossovers for mids and highs only. So I just limit the power to the fronts, by about 60%.
Now I know i can run the rears off of the HU. So ill do that.

I know you really like that brutus, but its too much for me. The Kenwood is plenty.

You can't run your fronts off that kenwood amp for a few reasons.

1, its not really a 4 channel amp.
2, its a class D amp. Which means.... in the most layman terms possible.. it only works for subwoofers.

it only works for subwoofers because it only plays the frequencies a subwoofer would play.

Even if it did play the higher frequencies, they would be so distorted it would simply sound like garbage.

yeah, get like a 50x4 amp for your speakers then a 250x2 amp for your subs.

the sub amp should be 500 watts at 1 ohm or 500 watts at 4 ohm

so 1000W peak is ok for the subs. But what Kentwood amp would work for the other speakers.

2 6" mids, with tweets.
2 6X9, 3 way.

All are 60 RMS each.

so 240 RMS for the whole group. I cant run them off of the head.

each sub will see 250 watts, thats all you have to worry about. Whats the RMS rating o the subs? if its 200 or better, you're OK.

Allow me to speak freely.... Manufacturers defects aside, Idiots blow speakers. If you hear the subs stressing, turn them down. Lots of people ehar them stressing and *turn them up* but that sbesides the point... anyway..

get a 50x4 - 75x4 amp for your coaxials.

So coaxials are every speaker except the subs?

I found this sub, will it work?

30 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms
40 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms
80 watts RMS x 2 bridged output at 4 ohms
2-, 3-, or 4-channel output
4-ohm stable in bridged mode
Tri-Way capable
MOSFET power supply
high-pass (150 Hz)/low-pass (80 Hz) crossovers, 12 dB/octave
anti-thump circuit

this is perfect for your coax
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=0&cc=01&avf=N

and this for your subs
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=0&cc=01&avf=N

wire each sub parallel, and then into each channel.

that way you have matching amps.

Id thought of that, but Ive got some friends that work in a electronics store and repair shop, and they will fix anything that breaks for next to nothing. Besides, Ill never max anything out anyways. As far as I understand one of the only ways to bust the things is moisture and excessive heat, and abuse by over working.
For the money saved if Iwin...it s wort it to me. if I get them through crutchfield, it will be 280.00.
If I wi nthe auctions, I can get the same thing, new in box for about 200. Gives me 80 bucks to put in wirng.
