Default Tune up advice needed

I want to get my new 87 with 56k miles running great. I believe the car is totally stock and I am wondering what are the best parts to use. I keep reading on the forum about spiro pro wires, NGK plugs etc. Am I best off just using stock delco parts or is there an advantage to using other makers parts?
Thanks for the advice.

If you want to keep it basically stock and aren't into performance mods, then AC Delco is more than adequate for that. That's all I use but I'm not a performance mod kind of owner. It'll usually save you money too.

I use Autolite plugs. They'll out last any other plug out there.
Cut the air filter cover and get a K&N filter. Replace the cap and rotor if it needs it.
If you need tires buy Kuhmo's.

MDS 8mm, AC delco cap & coil, AC Delco spitfire plugs, cut your air filter cap, and you can use regular filters... For a stock system, there is really no advantage to go otherwise...

When you say, "cut the air filter cap," what do you mean?
It's starting to look like your telling me to stay with AC delco - correct?
