Is it possible to remove the tail light lenses without removing the rear fascia? There's dirt trapped inside the lenses thats visible when the lights are on at night. Its really irritating me!! :banghead: But I see no access to the lenses from the outside (No screws)! I know the bulbs have to be changed by reaching in under the fascia, but is this how the lenses are disassembled?
On my 89. I took out the backup light and stuck my hand up there to get the nearest lamp out first. The second one was a little easier. For some reason, I remember that I stuck my hand from under the bumper. Can't remember if I losses any boltsÂ…
The lenses are attached from the inside. If the gas tank wasn't in the way, It'd be very easy to remove them, but that's not the case. What really pizzed me off, was almost every one of the plastic bosses on the back side of the lens', that the screws attach to, was broken. And G.M. wants $60 plus for a new lens. :mad
I figured out a way to repair them. And with a product called "FLITZ", I polished up those old lenses like new.
It is a real pain to get the lenses off.Take off the plate, reach around and take the closest lens off first and the other one comes off easier.Dont break anything.I just bought a new set and my cost was $250.If you got big arms it only makes it more difficult. The lens is held on with two 10mm botls.
