Pry up the cap with the gear pattern using a screwdriver. There's a silver key force-fit into the gearshift ****. Use a set of Vise-Grips to grab it. Pull, wiggle and shimmy until it comes up. Be sure to move your face out of the way, when the key comes loose, it can be exciting (don't ask how I know this, that would be a dumb question!). Unscrew the **** counter-clockwise.
