I am new to my C4, and I want to remove the shift knob. How do you do this? Help :conehead

There is no such thing as a dumb question on Corvette Forum. A question may not have sufficient information to premit a reasoned response but never dumb.

Pry up the cap with the gear pattern using a screwdriver. There's a silver key force-fit into the gearshift ****. Use a set of Vise-Grips to grab it. Pull, wiggle and shimmy until it comes up. Be sure to move your face out of the way, when the key comes loose, it can be exciting (don't ask how I know this, that would be a dumb question!). Unscrew the **** counter-clockwise.
