just scored a auto dimming mirror from ebay. they said it was from a 90, which is what i have. but no lights on the bottom, did chevy have a option for this in 90? or did i just get taken for $25.00?
There is no mention of that option in the "Corvette Black Book" and Eckler's only offers a mirror with lights for '90.
Since the F-body cars had that option (map light was overhead, even with T-tops) I suspect the mirror is from a Camaro of Bird. In fact I bought a used one for my IROC.

Re: auto dimming mirror (mphy98)
You're talking about the mirror that mechanically tilts with an electric motor right???
My buddy had on that was an option on his 87 IROC... Before the electrochromatic mirrors this is how it was done... It tripped me out the first time I heard the motor move the mirror at night (zzzzt)... I head the noise as it toggled several times before I actually saw it and realized what happened...
I don't understand why EC mirrors didn't come standard in our Vettes, my 94 Caddy has one and I love it... Might get one and retrofit it to the Vette...

Never an option on C4s. Like a lot of you guys, I've also wanted one (my '94 LHS has one and it's a great feature). The biggest obstacle that I can think of is that the C4 mirror attaches to the windshield frame with a unique foot but all the auto-dimming mirrors that I have seen are made to attach to the glass.
Has anyone adapted the auto-dim/compass mirror to a C4 and retained the small map light that shines on the console in addition to courtesy lights? This light is just too handy to give up. Is there room inside the auto-dim/compass to add this light?
No, I did not adapt that small light. The unit I got from Donnelly did have the courtesy lights built in. They don't seem to sell that unit any more, but have some that are similar. I find that the auto-dim far out weighs those other lights.
