Default CE & GS Values

It's about time someone recognized the Collector Edition Corvette has some over/above value compared to the standard issue:

BTW- I am not putting down anyone's ride. This is an FYI :hurray:

What's the pricing differentiation? I love the look of the CE, but they made a heck of a lot of them (5,412/25.1%).

By the way, I speak as someone whose special edition (50th Anniversary) was 11,632/32.8%.

Well, there are some differences.
RPO Option Z15 included:
Sebring Silver Paint
ZR1 Type Wheels
"Corvette" Brake Calipers
"Collectors Edition" badging
"Sport Seats"

Other than that there are no differences between a CE & a similarly equipped standard 1996 Corvette. For that matter there is really no difference between a CE with the LT4 and a GS (except the GS coupe has larger rear wheels/tires & flares on the quarters and all GS's had different VIN tags which is neat). Underneath the special paint/badging they are all 1996 Corvettes

Agreed, I was asking what difference you expect to see in price - in other words, something like the Ruby Red 40ths (said to be worth $2,300 to $4,800 more for a package that cost $1,455 when new) ?

It's nice to see that....CE's are a special car, just as the GS is...no matter how many there are...and when the LT4 is under the hood, they just ROCK!!! :steering:

Kind of odd that they don't ask whether the CE has an LT4 or not. Seems to me that the LT4 cars are worth more and are priced that way in the marketplace.

Can't they just build that into the additional value of the six speed (since one requires the other) ?

Average Retail = $25K
High Retail = $35K

As much as I love to see that, I haven't seen a CE sell for that (heck not even advertised) for this kind of money. If I could get between $25K and $35K for mine, it's gone today.

But, it is neat to see them broken out as a separate option package.

its nice for the value to be that high if your going for a loan though alot of time banks only want to give you a percent of the value?

I can see the collectablity of the GS, being that there are only 1000 made but really the CE package isn't THAT special. Granted I love mine and would love to see the value up there, I just think that to make the car more collectable they should have made them LT-4's as a package, like the GS. I would think that 96 LT-4's alone should be higher priced since it is a 1 year deal and was kind of an upgrade. Most value books/sevices overlook that but the Corvette buyer sure doesn't. I really think that to make a car collectable they need to put all the available performance into it and limit its production. I would have liked to see the 50th Aniverseries come out with Z06 powered Coupes and Convertables JUST for the Aniversery package, limit it to 2500 and watch 'em go. Not that what they did was bad, I just think that it seems that performance keeps that collectablity there.

Also, clicking on either Grand Sport or CE listing shows them as being a Brickyard 400 Pace Car.

And that's why I don't see the big deal about a GS. So they made a lower number of those, big freaking deal. It only matters if you are a car collector trying to keep it as a museum piece with super low miles since you won't find many that will fall in that catagory.

Now A ZR1 or Callaway....those are special cars.

I agree. What's up with that. You can't even choose the mileage your car has.
Also NADA is not used by most to approve loans for the purchase due to the higher retail listing of vehicles. They more likely will use KBB. BUT seems like when dealerships are selling to you, they quote the NADA prices. Go figure.

Retail Value
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value represents the amount an auto dealer might ask for a specific vehicle. The Suggested Retail Value is a starting point for negotiation therefore the actual sale price will vary. Popularity, condition, warranty, color and local market conditions will be factors involved in determining a final price. This retail value is not a trade-in or private party value.
This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history. The Suggested Retail Value also allows for advertising, sale commissions, insurance and other costs of doing business as a dealer. Most vehicles being offered at this price have passed an inspection and some may carry a warranty.
