since i can't post in the tech/perfomance, i thought i'd try here.
I need to remove my fuel rails and i don't want to start my car to get the fuel out of the lines since the batteries pulled, etc. for the winter. is there anyway to get the fuel out without starting the car. if not, how much fuel is in the lines and could i just put shop rags around it to contain the gas?

thanks.
I would release the filler cap. that should ease the pressure, and cause the fuel to slowly ease down the lines and into the tank. I would do it over night.
Take the cap off of the schrader valve (back of right rail) and just stick a screwdriver in there and push the pin down. All done. If it has been sitting for quite some time there may be very little pressure and hardly and gas that will come out. Just put a shop rag in the area to catch whatever is there. It'll evaporate fast enough.

actually the pressure is relieved (i already pushed the schrader valve and removed the gas cap and let it sit), i should have phrased it as how to get the fuel out of the lines. i started removing the lines and gas started leaking out, i quickly plugged it back up so i just wasn't sure how much fuel was in there.
i guess i'll just load it up with shop rags and quickly remove the rails.
I was going to say, remove fuel pump fuse and turn car over until it won't start but you already let out the pressure. Gravity is about the only thing to get out remainder of fuel. It always seems that there sure is alot of fuel left in those skinny little lines. Been there. Just keep alot of rags handy.
I did the fuse pull thing, the gas cap thing, and the schrader valve thing and for some reason my gas still ran....I filled 5 2-liter bottles fuel of gas before I gave up and just drove it until it was very close to being out of gas.

Re: relieving fuel pressure (Bruthish)
Brutish, did you release the fill cap? The system is completely sealed when the car is off, and can build up pressure. Once it gets going, it'll keep siphoning till the tank is dry. I made the same mistake, and didn't catch it till several gallons made it onto the garage floor and the entire room was filled with fuel vapors. Lets just say I didn't light a match in there.
Loosen the fill cap, relieve pressure at the schrader valve, THEN remove the line fittings. Once I have em off, I like to cap them anyways just to be safe.
