Good grief - you guys can't be serious. What do you think your doing playing in a golf tournement or something, or are you just try to impress someone (or more like get some one to look and stare at you)

Im guessing you dont race your car. They can make a difference. Especially if you drive a manual.
For your info, I co-held a number of records withDick Moroso in the 60s, not one wore gloves!. Today only "gloves" that are needed are fire retardent ones, and others means I guess you have sweaty palms

Re: Driving shoes? (rocco16)
LOL driving shoes? WTF..........now I've heard everything. I take it strictly Duke Nukem style in my assault boots. Makes me a "leadfoot" literally. (They're kinda like the ones Neo was wearing in the first Matrix film.) They actually help add resistance to any unnecessary lift off the gas pedal. :D Cuz we wouldn't want that now would we. :yesnod: :seeya :steering:
I got some pilotis for xmas also, I though how korny I'm never going to wear them. I love them, I want to use them even if im not driving. The driving gloves, no way, that is korny. Then I used them on a long trip love them too, I always hated the feel of sweaty hands on the leather.
Oh we're just kidding... barefeet and flip-flops for local & beachside. The weather is finally getting there!!
Serious driving requires a serious shoe :steering:
If you had size 11 EEE feet like I do, you'd understand why I like barefoot driving. When I wear shoes I have a real problem with hitting the brake and the throttle simultaneously..... my feet are too wide. With shoes I sometimes don't feel the onset of the problem until I have pushed hard on the brake and "surprise"..... . It's not a big deal for me because I don't do "serious driving" but it has happened on occasion when hard braking is necessary. I agree with the statement, serious driving requires a serious shoe, BTW.
just a nice pair of adidas running shoes. if someone can convince me that i could shave time off of a quarter mile run (autocross i can understand), then i might consider buying a pair. but for $100, i could use it elsewhere.

They make a difference when aggressivly driving automatics too :D I used them when I was throwing my truck through the twisties. Pedals felt great, and my foot never got caught on anything. See, my normal shoes are kinda like a soccer shoe and have soles with varying length parts (for traction). Well, those same parts can get stuck on the pedal when "racing" or moving your feet between pedals real fast  I've actually done it a few times...
Driving shoes have soles similar to the "water-wading" shoes mentioned before. I'll get some pics of what I mean...
Now for my Vette and serious racing, the shoes aren't needed for the above reason; My foot doesn't switch between pedals :smash: It's like Hagar sang, "One foot on the brake, and one on the gas!"... The shoes just give you a much better feel for the pedal. It's just as good as barefoot driving, but you're still wearing a shoe!! You're not allowed to AutoX in bare feet, so driving shoes are the way to go. Oh and when you walk around in them, you can feel the ground real well, but you're still wearing a full size shoe; that sensation takes a little getting used to  And they're somehow incredibly comfortable
