i have them facing the rear that is what i like best also you can face them up hitting off the glass. if you put them facing the rear have them at least 6inch from the rear
I have a few pictures on my site of my subs setup. I haven't updated my site in about 2 years but I have 3 pictures of where I put the amp and box. By the way 2 12" subs fit surprisingly well.
on my 89 vert i put them right behind the seat where the stock blows speaker were.. i lifted the carpet unscrewed the speaker deck and made a new one outta wood that fit 2, 8 inch 8ohm rockfords..then covered them with two 8 inch metall grills from radio shack . they fit perfect look factory and are awesome!!! they are really nice subs and the fit was what i was lookin for.. i'm running them through a 600 watt amp and they can rock that car even with the top down:D
I have mine in a box that goes from the compartment doors (so I can still use them) to the back.
It goes back about 1' and then angles down to the floor. The box's airspace was close, so I installed the speakers 'magnets out' to make the box "bigger". I mounted the amps on the front, and covered it with matching carpet. A little chrome door guard trim around here and there and it looks AWESOME!
So now you can see the wiring to the duel voice coils and feel the car shake!
The best part is just pull the cover it all and it looks totally stock!
I am currently working on gettin 8" subs in the factory rear location with the grills over them. I would like to go bigger but living at apartments where my blazer has been broke into kinda tells me maybe I shouldn't put a box in that rather large back glass area. I would think the bill for the glass would be more than the system!!
But, for me, no subs yet :nonod:

You can always go with an SAS Bazooka tube (not any of the off-brands). Easy to install, clean sound, you can fit up to the 10" model in the rear and still store the top. I put one in that has its own amp. 100 watts and hits nicely. Best thing, if you need the extra room, just unplug the harness and lift it out.
