Last night I just completed installing my new fuel injectors, the same ones as DarkHalo; SLP /Bosch 25lb. Anyway, I put everything back together and prep it for the start, I go to start it and still nothing happens. It turns over but doesn't stay running. But it does sound alot better trying to start before I switched out the bad injectors. The only thing left on my mind, that I haven't replaced on the fuel system is the fuel pump. I hear it turn on when I turn the keys to run, but could it be pumping weak? I really wish I could figure out what the h*** is wrong becuase I'm losing time and money! Please someone help!! Thanks.....
Things Replaced so far:
Fuel Filter
Fuel Injectors
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Did you remember to plug in your MAF sensor? What about the fuse for the fuel pump? Try reseting you IAC valve and TPS sensor. Also try disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes and reconnecting it. May also be a vacuum leak. Alot of possibilities. Good luck.
First thing I would have done is checked the FP with a manual guage. I'd do that before you go changing any more components of your fuel system. How do you know your problem is fuel, if you dont know if your getting adequate pressure/flow?
I had my car in the shop for awhile and that's the problem they told me, not to mention the leaky fuel injector test my brother and i did before i ordered the new ones.
When/how did this start happening?? Do you take anything major apart and put it back together?? or it just wouldnt start one day? Some details may lead to some ideas.
About a month ago I was driving and my car just cut out and stopped running, leaving me coasting, and I'm thinking this is fun. So I do the leaky fuel injector test and then put it in the shop which told me thats what the problem was. Before the idle was really rough and wouldnt stay running. Now that ive replaced the fuel injectors, it doesnt start. I've taken off my plenum runners, and fuel rail to install the injectors but other than that, nothing major. The manual fuel pressure reading goes to about 30 and stays. Thats pretty much it as of now....
30 seems a little low, i dont remember. If you have a manual you can look it up. Id think more like 35-40 is factory but dont quote me. I would think it would still run though, like crap, but run.
Could be a bad ECU, a bad chip in the distributor, cracked distributor cap, bad coil, fouled plugs from being drenched in gas from the faulty injectors..bad fuel filter, fuel pump, bad engine ground........an electrical short.. Try unplugging the EST bypass and see if it will start and idle....if so, it's the chip inside of the distr.
It may be a long shot but, unplug your MAF sensor and see if it will run with it unplugged. Mine died a couple of weeks ago and it wouldn't run with the bad one plugged in. If I unplugged it, it would run.
