I own a C-5 my uncle owns a 95 C-4. I have not visited the C-4 forum until now so I am looking for some help. I told him that I would check for him on what exhaust is best for the C-4's? I just bought the GHL bullets for my C-5 and I was wondering are they just as good for the C-4's. I realize that it is subjective but what is the consensus of this C-4 forum.?
You'll get a lot of votes here for Corsa, which is where I'm heading. Stay away from Flowmaster's, which is what I'm getting rid of. The resonance will rattle the fillings out of your teeth!!!
Corsa...just got mine last week from Mid America for $799. That's about the cheapest you'll find 'em. If he doesn't mind resonance, there's other options out there like B&B TriFlo, Borla, etc. My vote, though, is for Corsa. Looks awesome - sounds even better.
I and other Forum members are Magnaflow fans. The look is fantastic, the sound in mean but not obnoxious and the price is very reasonable. This is a picture of them on my '86 right after installation.
They are 100% stainless steel and the workmanship is excellent.
I've been thinking of changing exhaust on my 84 as well. Obviously, performance isn't such an issue with me as sound... I mean, lets face it, it's a Crossfire ;) But I'd like something with more of a traditional "musclecar" sound then what the stock exhaust offers. I'm hoping to find a local club where I can listen to some setups in person, but who's got sound clips to post up? :D
Resonation is not bad at all and they give it a deep rumble, not too loud. (which I don't like, because I want the thing to rattle windows) Anyway people might not like my way of doing things but I have Dynomax Bullets, basically just some fattened pipe with ceramic(?) packing.
Up to you... $800 for Corsas... or $60 for Bullets, and heck, just go get some little cats and get a full 3 inch true dual system fabbed.
I've tried a few and and riddena dndriven others, here's my breakdown:
Cheapest-Muffler Eliminators
Best Looking-Corsa
Loudest-B&B Tri Flo or Flowmaster
Best Sounding-Magnaflow
Now for a real nice hot rod sound, I gotta go with B&B,Flowmaster or Muffler Eliminators.
Power Effects sound good in the wide open position, but aren't really much different thna muffler eliminators.
Borla has some fit and finish isues, but were awful quiet.
Corsa looks great and is probably the most popular, quiet at idle and cruise, but screams at WOT.
For an automatic, I would stay away from B&B and Flowmaster, but they are fine in a stick car.
Corsa or Borla for an automatic.
But even if you bought the kit from Corvette Central, the muffler elimnators are the best priced and easiest to install being that the stock exhaust from the cat back is one piece, drop it, cut the mufflers off and attach the pipes(with tips welded on already) and you are done. It can also be done without dropping the exhaust, but it's not as easy.
I'm taking the Corsa off my six speed and putting it on my automatic and going back to eliminators on the six speed because the Corsa was just not loud enough.
I went with the MagnaFlows for my 96. It's a muffler replacement only. I had them welded to stock pipe and had resonator removed and straight pipe run for true duels. They also added a crossover up by transmission area. I'm happy with sound, looks and performance. Good luck with yours !

Tell me about it... :smash:  :D Removing the spare tire and components makes it a little easier to work on :yesnod:
I love Borla. The first Borla system that I heard on a Vette was a Stinger system on a Z06. I have been hooked ever since. I've had mine for a couple of months now. The rumble at idle and a sound at WOT is truely the sound of power.
