Default Headlight Motor Question

I've got an 86 and recently Corvette Central repaired one of my headlight motors.

I noticed that down near the manual adjustment **** there is a little horseshoe shaped wire clip that runs from one side of the headlight motor to the other. It also locks into a little notch near the adjustment ****.

I also noticed the words "OPEN" and 'CLOSED" are stamped on the motor right near the clip.

Anyone know what the little clip is for and whether is needs to be unclipped then re-clipped to adjust the headlight motor travel?

Thanks,

Jake

Rotate the **** to open the the door then place the retainer wire over the **** to keep the door from jarred out of position.

So, then it's just a way to keep the door open all the time?

Yes when a motor goes out you unplug it, crank it open with the **** then put the retaining wire over the **** so it stays put.
