For those with tinted windows how dark did you go and did you do it yourself?
I'm wondering how hard it is to apply the tint around the hatch struts. I'm thinking I will try it myself to save a few bucks.....it may even be fun.
Does anyone have any links to a good "DIY window tint" page. My searches came up zilch.
I admit I have never done it myself...but I have heard and seen horror stories. It is not that expensive for someone else to do it and it will usually carry a lifetime warranty. As far as the strut mounts....you need to have them(or you) cut around them completely and not under. In other words, don't allow the tint to touch them...there have been too many stories of the tinting twisting around it when opening/closing. good luck!
i would never attempt to try the hatch, maybe the side windows and heck those are usually only about $25 a pop. You could probably get the whole car done for around $200.
Actually its easy but the back window is the hard part.
Do the side glass yourself and get the hatch done. Theres a trick to it but if you buy the kit and follow the directions 1st, its fairly easy.
Check with the local police before you tint too dark they will ticket you.
If you don't want a ticket don't drive at night.
im a do it your selfer... ive tinted alomost all my friends windows on ther cars and trucks and my vette its not to hard if u have experience !!
i went 5 % on the side windows and 2 % on back glass !

:iagree:
Sounds like money well spent. I've tinted lots of FLAT windows, and they're no walk on the beach....
I just tried myself. If you have never done it. Pay to have it done. What a lesson in frustration. I could not get all the air bubbles out, it kept folding and creasing. What a mess. After a good couple hours of aggravation it looked like crap, so I took it all off. I need to make an appointment with a pro.

Allow me to make it a clean sweep. Let a pro do it.
Hehehehhe, sure seems like I'm not the only one who's thought to do this.......and the thought of that rear window does give me the *******.
Turns out a good buddy of mine has a brother-in-law who does tint/alarms/stereos etc... for a living. Mobile service at that. I think I'll give him a call as soon as my pal digs out his phone number for me.
I tried to do my own once on a 94 Explorer (high school). Even on those big, square, flat pieces of glass, it still was a PITA. I would suggest paying somebody, especially considering our back window.
