Mixed tire sizes
I received my new Ecklers a couple days ago. In the tire section the "recommend" 245/50 16s in the front and 265/50 16's in the rear. Has anyone done this? Any advanatges or disadvantages? I know the C5's have different tire sizes.

Re: Mixed tire sizes (ductape)
A little less wait and friction of fron but more traction in the rear. Plus, I am sure it's easier on the steering box.

Re: Mixed tire sizes (Bruthish)
Probably a silly follow-up question, but how would you rotate directional tires of different sizes?

I believe 255 are the widest 16" tires made. I've look for wider for years!

Re: Mixed tire sizes (Gregory VanLare)
my 96 Lt1 came with 255's on the front and 285's on the rear.....not sure when they started doing that...its my understanding you can go as big as 285's on the front (with the big rim)...but GM went with the smaller tire to keep the front from wandering around...like in the ruts on the interstates etc....

Yep, thats what I've heard as well. I really doubt it makes that much of a difference so I'd probably go with the bigger size all around. :yesnod:
