Default LT1 Block Question

I have just removed all the componets from my LT1 engine and there is 327 cast into the block everywhere. What is this number and where do I findthe actual block number? Does 327 mean?

Thanks in advance

All LT1 blocks have "327" on them.

And they are all actually 327 cubic inches...factory just labeled them 5.7/350!

Just kidding.

Yep, just another GM casting number. It scared me once when I bought an LT1 from a junk yard. I thought I got one of the baby LT1's they had put in a few Impalas. They were 265's though I believe.

327 is just a casting code...

I was just under mine tonight and noticed the same thing. Thought it was funny, especially when I remembered that the old Ford big blocks, 352, 390 and 428, etc. all had 352 stamped into them. Hey a 327 LT1 would be pretty cool, huh? Actually if memory serves, don't a 327 and 350 share a bore size?
