Windshield film
I think my car's previous owner used Rain-X or some other treatment on the glass. How can I remove this? I can never seem to get the windshield clean using Windex or similar ammonia based or vinegar based products...

Do you have that blueish purple stuff that just seems to rearrange when you try to take it off? A friend had something last summer that I used get it off of my cars pretty well but I'll have to find out what it was. I aslo had those water spots that won't come off and it worked pretty well on them too. Dealing with glass problems is tricky business and I'm certainly no expert. I'll bet someone will have some good ideas though.
i had the same prob i used meguries scratch x just to see what would happend and wow! with some work it took it off 100% give it a try just polish it out like you would using it on your paint.
20% vinigar with tap water solution cleaned with an old newspaper with black print only usually works for us on any glass without leaving streaks, etc.

Re: Windshield film (MrWiggly)
I had something on my windows that I could not get off. Finally after reading a post here, I went to Pep Boys and bought a can of Stoner's Invisible Glass. It took two to three applications before I could get it spotless, but it worked great. I used black and white newspaper rather than paper towels. This was on the directions on the back of the can. It was also an old trick I learned in the military and forgot.
