i have "3k mile average" type full coverage insurance on my car.left it on all winter in case the garage collapsed or something :)
starting work monday.car wont be out for at least a month due to snow.
i expect to put 5k on her this season and am wondering, how big a deal is this to insurance co's if i run over that 3k guesstimate i gave when they set my rates last year?
should i bring it up to em or just see how it goes?
my policy started like in august last year,so would that 3k figure be till 12 months from then or would this spring be concidered a new season?
one thing-my title has 44k listed for miles, when my car had 31k on the clock.seems at title change time for owner 2,owner 1 had it set on kilos and at sale time he mistakenly wrote down kilometers on the car instead of miles.
i have 35k (miles) on it now.(but the title shows 44k miles)
any tips or thoughts on this?
Insurance can be a big pain. I own an 87 Convertible and gave up on conventional insurance. I now use a specialty company that resulted in my rates going from $700 a year to $250 a year. This involves 2,500 miles or less a year and no driving to work. It is insured for a guaranteed value of $13K too. There is a company Leland West that insures up to 5,000 miles a year. Here is a link to my Corvette web site that discusses details about Corvtte insurance with some links to these special insurance companies too.
thanks for the info,i read the pages at the website and it seems i may have lucked out on my policy.i have a pickup as a daily driver which logs the majority of the miles i drive.
after reading the details of that link im going to review my policy and make sure im covered on the agreed value i beleive i am.
maybe i should call the agent and check and see if i can up the mileage to 5k without to much trouble and money.
after all,i payed full coverage all winter while its sitting under a cover.seems only fair to give me a few extra smiles err miles :)
what a pain.worrying about using a car to much for the policy....always something :banghead:
With my first Vette I had a 3,000 mile limit. I went 3,100 and they cancelled me. Some companies let you select a mileage range, so I would definitely talk to them about it.
Also, if you contact lelandwest.com, you can get different mileage limits from them. jGood lick!
