Windshield wiper problem
Hey all,
I'm having a problem with my windshield wipers. they move kinda slow, its like they are struggling to move against the glass. some times they get stuck halfway and I have to flip the switch to get them to move. The wipers are brand new and I have already lubricated all the moving parts I can see...any suggestions? :smash:
One weak spot in the wiper motor is what they call the park switch. With the wipers on, look at the wiper motor. You’ll see two connections going into the motor. The one on the right side, I think, is the connection for the park switch. Giggle it or the other one and see if the wipers start acting normal. If not, it may be the motor. My park switch was bad and they would not run on low or park. $40 for a switch was the cure.
Is the right windshield wiper arm exactly the same as the left? I'm refering to where it attaches to the motor stub, at the windshield. The left wiper arm goes past the top portion of the windshield when in use. I know how to get the arm off of the stub, but the little toothed gear is riveted in place. Doesn't seem to be adjustable. If there is an adjustment to be made, I have not found it yet. (I'm figuring that the prior owner put a right side arm on the left.)

Your best bet would be to adjust the left wiper drive arm. There is a certain amount of play in them and they can loosen up after use. By adjusting the drive arm, you can position the wiper correctly in relation to the stops which should correct the problem. You can also adjust the plate attached to the knurled ****. There should be three bolts in a triangular pattern which when loosened, allows you to rotate the wiper assembly up or down.
