A while back I posted a question about best techniques to paint the side molding lettering. I finally got around to doing this myself. I took an old highlighter with a sharp tip and used it as a paint brush with model paint. I also had some paint thinner nearby for the inevitable accidents. As with all things on my 1984, it is not perfect, but it is satisfying.
I thought about doing the same. My side lettering now just blends in and unless you're right on top of it, you really don't see it. So I thought, I'll repaint it gold to match my scheme and it'll be great!......well, I was talked out of that by the two artists in my family. They said it would detract from the classy stying and it's better that it blends in anyway. Then I countered with, you can't read it...But as it was pointed out, there's no need for it anymore. I mean, 20 years ago, sure it was cool to have fuel injection when most other cars were still carburated. And it was the first fuelie in a corvette in a while!! So why not show it off....well, nowadays, it's actually a pretty crappy injection system and almost everyone has fuel injection. I don't think major companies even sell carburated cars anymore...
Bottom line: No need to repaint that part. The overall look is better without it :yesnod: Plus, no one's impressed with "Cross-fire injection" even if it's freshly painted...It's like putting a badge on the side that say "205 HP". Might have been impressive back then, but nowadays, it's nothin'
JMHO though. I'm sure your 84 looks sweet. And if you like the new paint, it's all good
