Default Need Some Advice...

Ok...I have an 86 with the original wheels, and it's getting really bad because one of the front rims is quite bent and the shaking is getting unbearable on the highway almost feeling kind of dangerous. Being a full time university student I can't really dish out too much on new wheels, but feel that I need to pick something up soon because this may be quite unsafe. The summer is coming up and I will have some spare cash to purchase something, but it really has to be budget. The tires are done as well, so it will have to be wheels and tires... I would get a pair of ZR1 repro's off of EBAY but those companies don't ship to Canada I don't think...any suggestions of cheap wheels from somewhere??? Thanks

Sorry to dissapoint you, but there are very few 'free lunches' with older Corvettes.
Ebay is your best bet.
I'm sure you can find an Ebay vendor that ships to Canada--I've bought items from Canadian Ebayers with no problem.

If it is just one wheel. You could get it straightened for about $100. However, the aluminum does weaken when you do this.

I got a clean set off my 86 with tires. Too bad you live so far. I need to get rid of them.

I won mine on an AFS auction from ebay and then shipped the tires in from tire rack. I think you can do the same. Not very expensive for the entire package. :)

Watch e-bay, sometimes a single wheel is offered. Check with salvage yards, they might have an undamaged wheel or two from a wrecked Vette. There are a number of Vette specific salvage yards that are on the internet and I would imagine you could get one from there. If on a tight budget just concentrate on getting one wheel instead of a set. When you graduate, get a new set as a present to yourself. You need to take care of the problem now as the vibration from the bad wheel will cause all kinds of wear and possible damage to the front suspension systems. This could be more expensive than a set of new wheels.

you should be able to pick one off of e-bay for around $50. i had two the i sold an each went for around that price.

here are some examples

http://search.ebaymotors.com/search/...0&BasicSearch=

remember even if you buy afs wheels, you'll need tires, you're looking at around $1000

Thanks for the advice guys...I don't want it to sound like I'm in that big of financial woes, I would probably be able to swing a set of AFS off of ebay if it was a package for lets say 1000-1200, my problem is actually being able to get them here. I was thinking that I wouldn't want to spend any money buying what I already have, considering I need 4 new tires anyway, so why not shell out a bit more and get what I want... I went looking at some repro's at several tire places up here and they wanted like 3000 for rims and tires (Canadian)...and that was not even the ZR1 size, but 9.5 all around. Does anybody know how I could possibly get AFS to get the tires up here, any Canadians have any advice?

Thanks
