I'm trying to find a roll bar for my 92 vert. I like the kind that has the 2 "hoops" behind the seat headrests. Can't find em anywhere. Lots for Mazdas, Porshes, audis....even C5's...but no C4's that look decent (or any for that matter).
If I can ever find a nice one...gonna put a smoked lexan windscreen between em...tastefully.
"I guess it may be hard to find a custom fabricator in Alaska,"
oh contrare-hes in the heart of fab country.now getting em to fab something for a car instead of a pipeline reg station might be a different story
go see mike at "the hydraulic center" and ask him.he knows everyone and is one heck of a nice guy.
I'm talking about racecar fabricators. Anyone can build a rollbar, but building it to the correct specs makes the difference. I'm sure there are some excellent metal workers in our great 50th state, but you don't hear of many race cars or drivers coming out of there.
If it's just a show piece, then that's a different story, I'm just used to form following function.
I am having a custom 6 point installed in my vert as we speak. I gave the fabricator (guy was recommended to me by RonRed89... He builds tube chassis race cars out of his garage...which is good because he's cheap).....
I had a long list of requirements....
see out of rear view mirror
not take up too much storage space
retract/store the top normally
recline the seats/move them back all the way.
sidebars not too intrusive
We'll see how close to all these he can achieve.
I personally like the way the rollbars look and think it will set my C4 vert apart out of the crowd (of mostly C5 verts around here).
Merrick, very cool. Is it considered structural on the TT?
I haven't read anything to say that it is, but it is definately beefier than a decorative accent. The crossbar floats up and down on the hoops with rubber bushings, so the height of the hoops can be adjusted with a hacksaw.
