Great opinions guys
I think the more I drive mine the more it grows on me.
A frind of mine is coming over and we may just swap out for a few hours to let both of us get "our own" real world opinions of each of the two :steering:
I can say without a doubt...I for one, love the small narrow footwells and cockpit feel of the C4
sup Frank!!!! been a while since ya heard from me.....ehhhhh what a time I been having bud.....to fill ya in quick.....lost my job (of 10 years mind you) last november.....damn boss sold the business out from under me....gave me 2 weeks to find a new job....damn nice of him huh.....so I have been keeping busy just finding work.....
I still have the vette though....no way no how was I getting rid of that...lol....but my dream remains to either go up to a C5 or hang on to it...and like you said...add to my collection....
either way I will keep you informed and will be chatting with you soon....Iam still not sure yet on the cruise in V for this year....iam still doing everything just to stay afloat with keep my bills paid hehe.....but I keep smiling after I look out the window and see her right outside it....
I LOVE my C4!! The only way I'd "Upgrade" would be to a ZR1 , or a Z06. :yesnod: And even then, I think my '95 would sit right next to it in the garage
I got my C4 after my C5. They are completely different cars and to say one is an upgrade from the other doesn't work I don't think. The C5 would be an upgrade only in that it is newer. They both have good and bad points and which one is better kind of depends on what you want to do with it.

Re: "upgrade" to a C5 (11sec"L")
I get funny looks sometimes too... I traded a 96 LT1 for a 96 LT4 in January...
I got asked why I didn't get a C5 and I usually just tell people that it's a matter of personal taste... My Vette isn't a daily driver so when I do get to enjoy it on the occasional weekend, I like the race car feel that my C4 provides me... IMO for my purposes, the C5 is too refined...
If my Vette was a daily driver then I probably would have upgraded to a C5...
I look at it this way too... There aren't nearly as many clean C4s out there as there are C5s... Not to knock the C5, but it's gotten to be where they're a dime a dozen out on the road... Very rarely do I see a C4 or C3 anymore... And as far as the exclusivity of the LT4 goes, what else do I have to say??? :D
Forget about them, if you are happy with you car - then don't be the slightest bit concerned about what other people say. Obviously if they dont have the mental ability to appreciate that someone might have good reasons why they drive a different generation then their own then they are not worth the time to explain it. C4's rule, we all know that :yesnod:
I've been looking at Vettes a long long time.. trying to narrow down my choice for when I finially can afford a toy.
IMO the C4 is better looking than the C5.. but I love the LS1 powerplants potential... so I've been browsing the crate engine catalogs and they already have LS6 crate motors complete with computer for not all that much... Best of both worlds.. LS6 powered C4
I guess I should browse the C4 Mod forums to see if it has been done.. and how big of a headache it is. :)
If I moved to a C5, it would be a downgrade in power and an upgrade in driveability and ride/handling. But I live in Florida and haven't seen a curve in a couple of years.
I love blazing acceleration. I have the right car for my love. I just wish I could drive it more.
I have one of each. There is no question that the 01 is a tighter, better built and more refined car, but I would never dis mine or anyone elses Vette. That 92 is still a blast to drive, but one would certainly expect the technology to improve in 10 years. I would love to have one of each generation regardless of how good or bad anyone thought they were. :auto:
I have driven both and both are cool cars. Let's talk about the interiors-heck, the C-5 has the same stereo my truck has! How special is that? The C-5 seats verses my sport seats are a joke to compare. It's like comparing a race car to a wanna-be. I have to agree with my wife, the ruby red sport seats and gold Delco bose system blows away the C-5 stuff. Profile side by side. The C-4 looks leaner and sportier. The C-5 does have a nice rear-end though, If you like-em big :yesnod: I fly planes and the c-4 FEELS LIKE A PLANE. I like that feeling. Tight legs and all...My .02 cents
I bought my '87 roadster with 22K miles for $12,500. After driving several C5's and a ZR1, I could not believe what a bargain the 87 was. Sure the C5 and the ZR1 are superior to my car, but not at twice the money. With some careful mods, this car will be one heck of a bargain!
