I'm another new owner. I bought a torch red (inside and out) '95 coupe about a month ago and couldn't be happier.
I'm sure I'll have more important questions later, but right now I just have a simple cosmetic one: Why is the lettering on my rear bumper and license plate cover painted black (see pictures: http://www.virtualtim.com/corvette/front_lettering.jpghttp://www.virtualtim.com/corvette/rear_lettering.jpg) when all other 95's I see have body-colored lettering? Is this something the previous owner did after market, or is it some kind of option? I really like the way the black lettering looks, but it bugs me that I don't know why its there.

Most are simply held on with a sticky backing which is pretty easy to remove - using heat (like the warm sun - or a simple hairdryer).
Some folks like them - others don't - personal taste thing. :seeya
Hey, thanks for the speedy answers. I like the contrasted letters too and don't plan on changing them. Unfortunately, my state (Iowa) requires front license plates so I've already replaced the front cover with a clear one to hold my plate. Now my llicense plate cover is just a really cool decoration in my apartment.
In my state (Mass) front plates are also required. My son mounts his when he takes his car to local shows and removes it when he leaves - just another use for your "
