I'm thinking about getting some aftermarket polished wheels and have a question. Those of you that have polished wheels, how often do they need to be polished? I know the factory ones from the C5 are clear coated, but I've heard of problems with doing that to aftermarket rims. I just don't want to be polishing these things up every week! Any feedback is appreciated.
This entirely depends how often you drive the car. If you drive it regularly I would say once a month to keep them in top shape, while cleaning them at least once a week with soap and water between polishing.
i polished mine last summer and i think ill do them again next weekend. :smash: like others said it has a lot to do with how much you drive and what you drive in like rain. if i do get stuck in some rain when i get home i dry them off and the same right after i get done washing the car

I agree with this 100%.
If your car is a daily driver and sees all types of weather than you'll need to polish often to keep them looking good. If its more of a weekend cruiser that only sees fair weather a good polish job will last awhile. My car has painted wheels so its not a concern for me, but my daily driver truck has polished wheels. The truck sleeps outdoors and sees all types of weather. The wheels on that thing are a major PITA. It seems like after I polish them they are already starting to lose their luster in a couple weeks. :(
I have found that a quick polish regularly is far easier than polishing neglected wheels.
Again, "regularly" depends on driving frequency, but just keep your eye on them. If washing them doesn't bring out the shine the way you like it, its time to polish again.
Thanks for all the replies guys! My car is definitely not a daily driver. It only gets driven in nice weather and only 1500-2000 miles a year. I think polished wheels would look nice against my Admiral Blue paint. Now to decide Y2Ks or Z06s :) .
