Driver's side outside mirror
This is possibly another example of problems with buying an early run of a new Corvette model. I have a 1984 Corvette, # 7755 off the GM production line. I posted earlier this week because I bought exterior door seals that were a little different than the originals. Well, I also bought a driver's side mirror at Carlisle last summer. The original on my car wobbles like a son of a gun. The cross piece is fine, but the plastic bits it clips into are broken. SO, I bought a whole mirror assembly, figuring I would just swap out the glass and the plastic backing plate. Well, the motor mounts on the mirror I bought are rotated 45 degrees from the original. Has anyone run into this? Anyone have any suggestions? The problem is that the plastic backing plate won't fit because the holes for the two pieces that screw in from the backing plate are rotated differently from the motor. Hopefully this makes sense. Anyway, I appreciate any ideas you can offer. :confused:

You might be able to repair the original piece with some JB Weld, quick set.
That stuff is quite amazing and holds like crazy; after it sets up you can machine it to shape.
