Why do they try?
My '93 is mainly a nice weather and weekend ride. every time I go out I get the strangest cars trying to "challenge" me. A Dodge ram Thunder Road? A Jaguar XJR? Ok, maybe the Jag is supposed to be quick but the Truck? sheesh! At least the ricers down here give some respect to the Vette.

I'm not sure what the Ram Thunder road is. I think that's what it said on the back. I searched the web and saw some reference to it. Maybe a sport Hemi package??

in my area all the ricers try to race me in both my cars.its rediculious to see this.cause they are all clueless,they think the 17secd's of rice can keep up with a C4. even a stock XFIRE vette they would have to have some big mods to keep up! its sad when they rev up on my mid to low 12sec pontiac though :nono:

I get all kinds of people challenging me. I try to blow them off and am successful . . . . . . . . most of the time.

With that lumpy cam I have and fairly loud exhaust on my '96, I have what I call an "intimidation factor". I get LOTS of challenges from all sorts of vehicles, but I just smile and don't bother to test or best them, which of course, just frustrates the livin' hell out of them too.
I can honestly say I have "never lost a race yet", and all they can do is just wonder if they can take me. I didn't modify mine with any notions of actually believing I could be the fastest, I just wanted it to sound "mean".
But it does make those other drivers seriously consider the possibility. The "psychological effect" is great!
The only ones I really have no patience with is those arrogant fools in their SUV's and 4x4's. Now they really DO need to be taught a lesson once in a while in humility.

The same thing happens to me....I don't ussually give in. I'm driving a vette and have nothing to prove. I let them go. I figure this way they'll never know for sure if they could out run my LT1 or not. Besides, I would hate to get beat by one of those new SUV's. I feel better (and maybe I'm kidding myself) thinking my car is faster and I leave it at that. I will say, I just picked up a new Nissan Murano and it is pretty quick for and SUV type vehicle.
