Default C4's vs C5's

I like them both>>>>>

Yesterday I came out of the store, and there was a C5 sitting in the next parking spot next to my C4. As I was walking toward them, it hit me my C4 from the front looks alot meaner,,, its looks better. I have been a fan of the C5 for a long time and I thought I liked them better,,,, but yesterday, finally seeing them side by side,,, I am convinced, the C4 is a better car, and is better looking.....

With 5 generations (well 6 soon), there is something for every body.

the C4 is a better car,
:skep: The C5 is better than the C4. The c4 is hard to get into and out of, has a amall storage space, has a ridiculous bolted down roof panel, and rides like a tank. There are other factors too, removable body panels, ease of maintenance, creature comforts, etc.

I have a C4 and love it, but I'm not so blind that I can't see and admit that the C5 is a better car.

and is better looking.....
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to prefer the C4 body style over the C5 but that wouldn't preclude me from putting one in my garage.

i agree...the c4 as a whole isnt a better car. i, personally, like them better. i would rather spend my money on a c4(or my next purchase a ZR1) than on a c5. i dont feel the need to really compare the 2. its what you like. the actual performace difference is minimal enough for me to let the c4s appearance and "race car interior" be the reason I own one over a c5. for the most part, people prefer the c5 over the c4 (atleast ppl i talk to). its a better everyday car, and alot of people like the styling better. im gonna get slammed for this, but i think a big reason people knock on the c4s appearance is the saw-blades...honestly. i hate them, i replaced them as soon as i bought my 92. i think they take away from the car. but a c4 and a c5 side by side with 2k-5 spokes or z06 rims, the c4 all of a sudden looks alot better.. i think if the everyday person saw c4s with better rims, they'd have a better reputation.

I always take the opportunity to park my C4 next to a C5 and compare.

I agree about the front (and rear), but I appreciate the C5's wider stance.

Don't feel bad about a :beatdeadhorse: ....after a few years on this forum it seems to me that it could be applied to any 'General' forum thread.

I would love to have a Z-06 sitting next to my GS but would not get ride of it to obtain a C-5.

BTW, I normally lock these type posts because sooner or later it turns into a giant flamefest.

But so far it isn't so bad.

I have always liked the C4 better......though the C5 is obviously much improved in the way of comfort and performance. I have driven both, and the C4 feels more like a true race/ sports car. I would love to own a Z06, but would rather have a 96 Grand Sport....thanks to Nathan! BTW....I love the 84+ flatback w/ round Tailights. They look mean with a huge set of meats on the back!

I personally like the looks of the C4 better, but if I had the money I'd trade it for a C5 just for the performance difference.

Both the C4 and C5 are special in the fine evolution of the Corvette. Each in its day was the best at each given moment. Without a doubt the C5 is a more refined and better performer. There of course may be a few exceptions - ZR1 and Calloways, etc. But a base C5 is better than a base C4. Just like the C4 was better than a C3. It's called engineering progress and technology. Personal preferences on styling cannot be comparable. What one individual prefers is based solely on his or her personal likes and dislikes.

Most Corvette owners would love to have both a C5 and a C4. Enjoy what one has and salute the other guy for what he or she has. The C6 will create the same controversy just as the C4 and C5 did. All Corvette owners should be united behind all generations because it is us that makes the Corvette live on!

In my experiences, the C5 seems to be a much more practical daily driver. And of course, it affords a driver the comforts of more modern technology.

I love (and prefer) my C4 because seldom comes a time when I'm driving down the road and see a car that looks similar to mine. All the while, I feel like I pass a red, yellow, or black C5 every day!!

I'm 23, I have little need for a PRACTICAL car!! I'd much rather cramp all 6'5" of me in the tight little driver's seat with a grin on my face as my more "rigid" sports car slings me back and forth with each little bump in the road. That opinion might change when I'm 40.

What's better: C4 or C5? Who knows....to each man his own!!

i the saw-blades...honestly. i hate them,
Those are my least favorite C4 wheels.

I love the '89 wheels.
Then the '90.
Don't like the sawblades.

That said, I think the C4 looks best with 5 spoke wheels a la the later ZR1s, the GS, and the CEs.

Both are great cars, love my C4 and always will, but the C5 has been growing on me. I almost even like the rear. Yeap I could see one parked in my driveway someday
