Thanks!, I've already pulled the valve covers and redid them. Can't find an emblem for the left valve cover to save my life. I've tried Ecklers, Corvette Central, Midamerica, and a few others with no results. I've had to touch the emblem up by hand and it looks like someone touched it up by hand. So I'm still looking for a replacement emblem without having to buy the entire valve cover. After I finish I'll post a picture. Thanks for your help. :seeya
I found a high temp ceramic silver paint that I think I'm going to try. My main concern is that I don't want it to look Cheesy. If that doesn't make me happy I'll probably strip them down and try to find someone to blast them. :yesnod:

I cleaned the plenum up with a wire brush and a power drill, came out better than new.
The valve cover emblem is discontinued, I bought mine from an Ebay seller.
I painted the valve covers with Hi-Temp paint.
I since polished the plenum with 'Mothers Aluminum & Mag polish", upon the suggestion of a Forum member.

I tried the touch up on the emblem and I think my results was about the same as yours.
VHT Engine paint (if you want a custom color). Very durable, I had it on my old runners for six years with no problems or cracking. Just make certain you have the aluminum ready to paint! A lot of guys paint them on the car, but it worth spending the time to paint them off the engine.
Otherwise, Ecklers or MAD have a "silver/gray" paint for valve covers which will work.
I don't think that L98 intakes parts were painted at all. You can clean the plenum, runners and the manifold base with a degreaser or even take them to a shop to have them cleaned up in a degreaser or have them blasted with a sand, glass or walnut media.
There is a "correct" valve cover paint available from the catalogs like Mid-America or you can paint them with any good heat resistant paint. Rough surfaces like you find on valve covers and the cast aluminum engine parts have to be free of grease so that the paint will adhere properly. Lots of soapy water and brushes!!
BTW, Welcome to the Forum!! You'll find lots of good information here and folks willing to help with any questions you have.
