Re: Tire question (jabez)
Ride smoothness is not determined by brand of tire, it's determined by tire section (and spring- and damper rates).
The 40- and 45-series tires we run will never be smooth....they are stiff and responsive. You'd have to go to a nice touring 60-series or greater to enjoy the most cushion. But, then, you'll have to go to a 15-inch wheel to find those.
I have Yokohama AVS dB S2's, and (as the name implies - dB = decibel) they're really quiet, IMO. They were also pretty cheap through Discount Tire. Check out their website...I'm running 275 series on the back and 255s up front.
Suggestion: Go to Tire Rack website.
Look up all tires used on your year Vette.
They have reviews from buyers of the various tires.
They are real reviews- I know, I gave a review after I bought my Firehawks.
