The horn on my 85 quit working. So, I pulled the horn button off the wheel and found things there in disrepair.
Through the wonder of Ebay I bought a new "Genuine GM made in Mexico" contact assembly part #9768584 (for those of you scoring at home) and the horn is still inoperative.
Here's the question...didn't I read in the forum some time back that many horn issues are related to the security system? If so I can't find the old posts. Can anyone shed light on why on Earth my d@#m horn won't work?
I think he misunderstood what you were saying Teh Nam. Check the actual horns to see if they're getting any power when you hit the horn button.
The horn is on the same fuse as the theft system. My horn went out a few months ago and it just popped the fuse. It's not in the main fuse block though, it's behind the driver info center in your center dash. Should be a 15amp. I would check there.
Curious ,
The horn on my 91 vette doesnt work either, don't have a manual when I bought my ride, where is the fuse for a 91 ???
thx....
Just went through this with my 91. See if you are getting power to the horn. When I hit the horn button, I only heard the click behind the dash. Hooked a test light to the connector at the horns and saw it light when the button was pushed. Removed the horns and cleaned the corrosion from both sides of the weather pack connector with a jewelers file, protected with some WD40 and viola, they worked. Maybe I was just lucky.
91vetteman: There are auxlliary fuses located under the glove box. You will need to remove the panel. The fuse marked "theft" (15 amp) includes the horn. There is also a horn reply towards the front of the I/P in same general location as fuse. Look for a group of three replys the horn reply is the middle one.
