Back when I bought my '86 Coupe new, the dealer asked me if I wanted it rustproofed. Without giving it much consideration, I said yes. Now I wish I hadn't. I am trying to detail it and find removing the undercoating quite difficult. It is a brown, waxy substance that was sprayed on. Does anyone have some tips on getting the awful stuff off?
That stuff is tuff to get off. No clue on an easy way to get it off. FYI in the back of every GM sales brochure, it states. The application of additional rustproofing material is unneccesary and not reccomended. :flag
Yeah, back in the day. It must have been like Rusty Jones or something. I remember Ziebart gave you a bottle of this petroleum base product to remove excess. You might want to contact them and ask, they might have a new name instead of Ziebart.
You would sure need a lot of bug and tar remover to get it all off, but if you want to remove only certain things maybe that stuff can help. Good luck
Those were the times when dealers tried to sell you every option and service they could. As I remember, the cost was not that much. Little did I realize that the stuff would still be clinging to that undercarriage 18 years later. Of course, I didn't expect to still have the Corvette. But as we all know, those
C-4's become part of your life.
