As for the cones, I'm learning to remove cone blood off of the Artic White paint!
Another Solo this weekend and I'm still working on set-up. So far I've done the shocks, brakes, alignment, built a harness bar and now I'm trying to get the tire pressures right. The Vette does turn in well but I know there's more there. Of course the biggest improvement needed is the driver.
You can try running the autocross with the top installed, it'll be a lot stiffer that way. Of course if you're like me you don't exactly fit well in your car with the top in.
I've tried running with the top in but my helmet hits the roof. I plan to install some different seat eventually but for now I'm going to fab up a brace simular to the RD one that will help structural integrity.
On the harness bar, I'll get some photos of it tonight. Again, I copied the current style. It has four connection points, the stock shoulder belt pick-up and the top hold down on each side. I used some 1"square tubing for the horizontal brace and boxed some eighth inch strap for the supports. I later built a bridge for the one inch to help solidify it. If that hasn't confused everyone enough, I'll get pics tonight.
JSA 007, you are correct. Although over the past 8 years of soloing, I've had my share of cone-acide. Something I've never understood, why do orange cones leave black marks
I just remembered, one of my favorite cone kills is swinging the rear end through a slalom and smacking one with the rear tires :boxing Those suckers go flying  :D
BSP  that's a very fast class! Around here we have a guy with a 74 shark that usually sets near ftd. I'm playing in STO (local only class, street tires) until I learn the car better.
About the top, I don't really fit in the car with it on but I do plan to build a support to tie the front and back together when it's out. For now I'm just gonna have to play with seat position.
Cones, the bane of every autocrosser. I have carried a cone completely around the course before in the camaro. There wasn't much left when I got back into grid
Yup, and I get beat down pretty often because I also only have street tires :bb I have to be in this class because of my computer chip (and not stock springs) But I'm really out there more to have fun than win my class :D (oh, and beat mustangs :smash: )

Whoa  You must be really tall!!

Tall? actually only 5'9" but after my first solo school, it was drilled into my head to move the seat up and forward. I've gotten so used to that driving position it's hard to go back.
I usually run fairly well in our local street tire class, I just need to learn to trust the car more. In Wichita, we have 7 or so Vette drivers that are faster than snot, I'm just playing catch up.

Well damn, I'm 6'0" and fit fine :) And for racing I also put the seat up and forward, but then I put it back once I'm all done :D I like to cruise with the seat way back because I don't like my knees hitting the wheel...So for racing I get way up and really into it, like the position puts me in a racing mood, then I adjust it back for normal driving.
