I don't know if Chevrolet had an RPO for the 88 and 89 Corvette Challenge cars. These had specific-built engines by the Flint plant, sealed and returned to Bowling Green for installation on the production line.

A private company installed the racing components and the cars were sold to various race teams. If anything, the Challenge cars that were ordered were similar to the COPO process of earlier years. I believe you had to have some connections to GM or an SCCA racing team to get one of these cars.

The RPO B2C Callaway cars were different in that cars were first ordered by a customer, built in BG as a stock car and then delivered to Callaway who did the mods in their shop and then delivered to the dealers.

I had thought someone here had posted once on the Challenge Car codes, but I could be mistaken. Below is what I do know about the cars (This is referring to the '89 specifically).

All 60 Challenge cars were built with FE7 springs and stabilizers; and were FX3 equipped.

All FX3 (non challenge cars) received FE1 springs and stabilizers to provide more adjustability (softer) even if it had FE7,
The spring code for front FE1 and FX3 = FHA
FE7 exc FX3 = FHB
The spring code for rear FE1 and FX3 = NYR
FE7 exc FX3 =NYU

BTW: I think you mean B2K not B2C, B2K also triggered its own set of special codes along with the B2K option.

:iagree: info is also the same for MY1990 stock Vettes.

In 1990, R9G was the RPO for World Challenge. I don't think the Corvette Challenge cars for 88-89 had an actual separate RPO. After 1990 I believe GM stopped doing the in-house mods for the Challenge stuff.

Edit: Well you probably knew that from the Black Book, but I believe the Cor-Vette Specs book has a detailed article about those cars.
