I put this in the tech forum, But I really need help
I need to explain further what she was doing, A gentle exceleration on my way home would be fine and she would go through the rpm range fine but when I put my foot into her she would rev up and down quickly. When I got it home though she wouldn't idle or if she did it was rough. WHile sitting I tried to put some throttle into her and she died. I started her up and put her in gear, the throttle was non-responsive she just chugged and idled rough. I put about 3/4 throttle into her and she finaly surged forward after backfiring a couple times. I hit the brakes and she idled fine even after I put her in park she idled like nothing was wrong. So I turned her off and fired her back up, she ran crappy again, almost like my ford. The Mechanic is comming today to take a look at her, any ideas out there what I can say to him, or can I fix it myself?
My baby is sick! Help!
:cry
Sounds like you got real low on gas and burned out the fuel pump. You can try changing out the fuel pump and that would probably fix the problem. Did you get too low on gas recently?
I don't wanna go spouting misinformation, but it sounds similar to a problem I had with my 84. It turned out to be the EGR valve? I've also experienced similar conditions when a fuel injector cuts out.......that one took forever to find, we had $3000 scanners hooked to the car with the best mechanics I know and we still could'nt find it!! I only found the injector problem when I was desparately trying to figure out where to look next under the hood and it started to sputter.....I looked over and saw one TBI cut out. I doubt Yours is an 84, but hopefully this might give You a couple more areas to check.

:iagree: But before you change the fuel pump, change the fuel filter cuz it's a hell of alot cheaper and see if that fixes the prob. It sounds like your vette's fuel line is really backed up if you ask me. If the fuel system's ok clean out your IAC motor. You should probably do this first anyway as it's relatively simple.
This one won't cost you anything. Try disconnecting your MAF sensor. If it idles, you have found your problem. But, before you go out and buy a MAF sensor, check out the MAF relay's behind the battery.
"she ran crappy again, almost like my ford"
major driveability probs are more evident than minor ones, she'll be fine.
