Foil wrap around motor mounts
How important is the shiny foil covered padding wrapped around the motor mounts? Mine look pretty dirty and a little ripped up, and I'm trying to keep the new motor clean (at least until it's in). I doubt you can get these by themselves, and the mounts look fine. Should I remove them, or will the mounts melt or something? :confused:

I saw a set of new ones go on Ebay twice with no sale at 12 bucks. Would have bought them but bought new mounts for new engine with them already on them. Nathan seems to be getting by with out them so you probably will be ok.

Yeah, I think this is a case of GM being over protecting them. Replacing them won't hurt anything and they probably can extend the life of the mounts, but they aren't really necessary. I'm not running them since I had to tear them off to get the motor out.

I doubt the mounts will melt. Mine have been gone for 2 years and I've been running long tubes. No ill effects so far.
