Anybody here remember the 1978 movie "Corvette Summer "starring Mark Hamil and Annie Potts.
Its about a teenager who dreams of driving a Corvette. He ends up being a mechanic and for a school project he builts his dream car, A StingRay.
It is so awesome it gets stolen. Hamil spends the summer looking for his car and meets up with Annie Potts before he finally recovers his ride.
Goofy movie but I understand his passion. :auto:
That Vette looked best after it was stolen and the crooks painted it black. The flick is kinda cheesy, but entertaining when I saw it as a kid. Oops...I guess my age is showin'.. :jester

Re: Corvette Summer (jabez)
Mid America Design, whoops Mid America Motorsports (sorry MAM) had the actual car displayed at Bloomington Gold last year. It was freaky looking!

Weird... I saw the same actual car in a run-down garage here in Phx a couple years back. I was cruisin' around town and noticed this Vette shop, so I stopped in (this was WAY before I owned a vette). I get to talkin' to the shop owner, and he takes me back into their "service bay." Sure enough, there was the car...all dusty and haggard looking. Looks like it's been relocated and is with new owners now.
I recently bought the DVD on EBAY & even watched it last night.
& for the guy who made another post above, the crooks painted it gold not black.

I also saw the car at a shop called the Phoenix corvette center under a tarp back in 1998. The owners name was dave, and he showed me pictures while building it.
