The windows in my '87 fog slowly while the car is parked in the sun with the glass rolled up. All the glass, even the back hatch, get hazy, but the windshield will be so bad after a 90 degree day at work that there are actual droplets of condensation. It is worst along the bottom of the winshield in the center by the vent and in the lower corners.
The film is oily, but the car uses no oil. I've taken to carrying window wipes with ammonia in the car, and when I clean the glass they come up with a brownish or grayish discoloration. My coolant is green.

Your heater core could also be at fault. Do you notice a sweet smell with the heat or AC on? You could also have a simple water leak somehwere insdie the car. The first plan of attack should be to inspect the heater/AC box under the pass side of the dash for antifreeze or refridgerant oil.

Bluevette - The A/C has been in need of a recharge for a while. If I start to run the A/C when the car is cool, it will get cold. If I turn on the A/C when the car is hot, it does nothing but blow the air around.
Chevy Guy - The girlfriend has a very acute sense of smell. She's never picked up on even a wisp of anti freeze.
JrRifleCoach - I haven't been running the A/C. It's very doubtful that the problem is condensate.
Corvetteronw - No comment!
Anybody else got any suggestions? The problem started after I had the car re upholstered. New seat skins and carpet, plus I asked for the speaker covers to be redone, and they pulled the whole dash pad off and covered it. For a while I thought it was the newly installed vinyl on the dash off gassing.
The haziness does increase slightly on long drives, but it really shows up while the car sits. If I leave the windows down slightly, it cuts down on the speed of the buildup. It's got me stumped.

i would be on the phone asking the them what the heck materials did they used and why is it doing this.
It's been almost a year since the upholstery was done. While I wondered at first if it was the cause, there's no way the dash cover could have been the source. The stuff that I wipe off the glass has by now exceeded the weight of the vinyl.
Re: Windshield fogs while parked! Help! (farhorizon)
probably condensation in the vehicle somewhere. Try the area in the rear hatch....Sometimes water comes in through the gasket...Have you had a cooler in your car with some cold ones???? These condensate and form moisture..Don't forget that your AC does run with the defrosters on, so the drain tube could be plugged if you find moisture there...New carpeting would also be notorious for releasing some substance into the air, especially if the vehicle is closed up for awhile.....Good luck!! :smash:

I'm not the greatest mechanic by far, but when my heater core went south, mine did the exact same thing. I parked it in my garge, and came out later to find the front windshield completley fogged up. This went on a few days, until finally the vents started smoking while I was driving. Left an oily film on the windshield, not necessarily a smell of anti-freeze. Heater core is a major repair, so hopefully you have better luck than I did.
BTW, I didn't replace the heater core (too much $$ at the time), and instead had my mechanic route a pipe that bypasses the core. So now no heat from the car except residual from engine compartment! But here in NC, its not too bad of a problem...

Hmmm... My AC is low on freon.. I know this because it cycles on/off every 10-15 seconds while running. But, the other day, I got home from work, and decided to wash the car. About 10 minutes after parking it, I noticed the windshield was all fogged up inside!!!!!!! Never saw that before, and it was gone about 15 minutes later..
