I'm using a transgo shift kit, I like. It's my understanding that the B&M kit will give you hard/firm shifts but the Transgo kit is actually called a reprogramming kit which keeps the drivabilty at lower speeds/rpm's and will firm up once you get on it. hopes this helps.....

Re: Shift kits!!? (Bilyk)
B&M Nice crisp shift between 1st & 2nd. If your real light on the throttle, the shift is nice. When you push down firm, it will chirp the tires. I've been told that driving this package in the rain can be entertaining. Here in kalifornia, we don't worry about rain, just the fruts and nutz. I never noticed any difference with the 3-4 shift so I installed the 3-4 boost servo from Sonnex. Helps to lock up the 3-4 bands when power is being applied.
I installed the B&M Trans-Pak. This is one step above the Shift Improver kit. Shifts are a little firmer at normal throttle and very firm at full throttle. It makes the car much more fun to drive.:smiliedrool: The down shifts are also very quick almost shocking. Hope this helps.
B&M Trans Pak here, along with Synthetic Trick Shift, and 2300 High Stall Speed converter, high capacity aluminum pan. Not fond of automatics, but got one in the '94 to deal with the awful Houston traffic. 1-2 shifts are awesome, all shifts are crisp, car launches great! Takes the boredom out of the ole Slush-O-Matic!
I have the Trans Go in both the IROC and the Vette and either will pull a nice chirp on the 1-2 shift with only heavy throttle. Several good tranny shops said they only install TransGo, so I have no experience with the B&M unit.
The Vette A4 was built up a little so I had to back off the TV cable a little to ease the part throttle shifts.
Anyway, the result is a shift that is firm but comfortable at part throttle yet realy fun near WOT. I highly recommend this mod; if you have the tranny out for work a 2,000rpm TC is good too.
*If* i would put one in i would do a trans-go. i haven't heard a horror story yet from the kit itself unlike the b&m kit. eventually i will but i am past the recommended milage for a shift kit install and for now the car shifts nice and hard in 1-2 and pretty firm in 2-3. it took me awhile to actually find someone i trust to do the work since i don't do internal tranny work and don't need a half @ss job from someone just because if they screw up and it blows the tranny a week, a month or whatever down the road and they think they will get my business with the kind of lines some of these shops use like "It was bound to happen" "I told you so but you wanted it anyway" (thats a good one since most of the time the I told you so part is not really mentioned or if it is it's in the pretext of a "Slight" or "Minimal" chance of failure.
i would recommend not changing a thing if you have more than 50k in miles. if you do your taking it in your own hands and no tranny shop will warrenty the labor.
also make sure to find some automatic tranny gear heads around your area like at a dragstrip if one is close and find out who does the tranny work on the faster street cars and even faster race cars and go with that shop to do the install.

I have the B&M on mine (i think. The previous owner said it was installed, and it DOES shift harder than stock)
Under normal load my 3-4 is fine, but it was mushie at WOT......Of course at WOT the 3-4 shift happens at over 120mph. I've only felt it twice, so I don't think it's worth me spending money on. :)

I am curious to know if you have any more info on this 3-4 boost valve, as to what it does and how much it costs. I know from the factory the 700r4 3-4 shifts are inherently a weak link
