Prior to this event my intermittent wipers were a little more intermittent than I liked. Full speed worked fine (hey, it's a vette after all! :) ). A few weeks ago the fuse burned out. I replaced it, but now the wipers don't work at all; not even the spray. The new fuse appears fine. Any ideas?
I wonder if your wiper switch died. I've had switches, especially composite switches, fail in wierd ways in other cars. Do you have anyone nearby you can swap out the switch with and see if that's it?
the wiper motor would be my first guess.need to ascertain if the motors getting power.if it is its likely toasted.
switches normally outlast motors 3 to 1,but sometimes if a motors been intermittently shorting and soemones putting beefier fuses in it the switch can overheat and go south on ya.
testing for power at the motor will also test your switch.i.e.-if you dont have power to the motor THEN you check the switch....
good luck
Bill, I disremember whether your model has the wiper switch on the door or not. On my 87, I installed a new wiper switch and it cured the speed problems. And yes, I had a fuse blow because the switch itself shorted out. I'd rather have a couple of root canals done than r&r the wiper motor!

ahh,one of them buggers to get at eh (why doesnt that surprise me).yea take the path of least resistance and cross your fingers on the switch (that sounds like textbook electrical advice doesnt it).
if you can get to the switch easy enough, and dont have one, make sure you can find at least 2 hot wires at the switch with it on.if only one then powers going in but not coming out.my old camaro lost a switch once now that i think about it.in fact it was always losing a switch,windows,headlights,wiper.....76 was a bad switch year for gm i guess.
btw "disremember" ,i like that :)

Yes, the switch is on the door. A couple of root canals?!?! :cry
Hopefully it is the switch then, so I can also return the motor I just bought.
:skep: Why...that switch is cake to get to...taking off the door panel is a 5 minute procedure with the only tool being a phillips screwdriver
