Had battery disconnected last weekend.....reconnected after work was done. Anyways, went to fire it up and it had been drained. Connected booster cables to boost it and lights came on....click...click nothing....now there's no lights under the hood or inside courtesy lights. Doesn't even attempt to turn over....simply nothing.
Help!!
more than likely the connection is bad by the side terminals, i have had this happen. disconnect and wire brush the screws as well as the battery. It is also possible that by taking the battery out , you have jarred loose the rusted insides of the battery and now they have alligned themselves in a direct short, this is called a sulfated battery. might need to replace. :flag
I didn't remove the battery, only disconnected while I did some work. terminal bolts seem clean upon inspection. Doesn't make sense that the battery drained in the first place....been using it for a month.
BTW....setup a different battery and connected cables to cars electrical....lights under hood come on again. Will try trickle charge on original battery.
I had a similar problem earlier this week. Went to start and everything went dead. Put the charger on, same thing. Put jumper cables on, ditto. Finally I disconnected the cables and noticed they were not on very tight (it's a new battery I put in a couple weeks ago). I put the cables back on and tightened them with a wrench made for the job, and it's been starting fine ever since.
