Window Tint
I just picked up my baby from the tint shop!
I had my son drop her off there yesterday to have the tint replaced. It was faded and kinda purple. The good Lord himself only knows how long that tint had been on there.
The plan was originally to take her in this morning but the shop had a cancellation yesterday so in an extremely rare moment of goodwill I let my son drive her to the shop. Good thing too because they ended up having to keep the car overnight. They were extremely careful to remove the old tint without damaging the rear window defroster and that took a lot of time. I was worried they might "take her for a spin" so I had my boy jot down the odometer...they didn't add mile number one! Impressive restraint!
I got the 3-M 5% tint. $149.00 (even) out the door. She looks wonderful! I'm thinking the AC is gonna be a lot more effective. Wish I had pics to share. Gotta love these cars! :seeya

I am in agreement with you, without tint, I feel weird! I have limo all around. I used to have 35% on the sides and 20% in the rear(metallic) I didn't like the color on the blue(I did the metallic when the car was red) so I pulled it and went to limo.
They did a pretty neat trick with my back window seeing it was off the car(car was being painted at the time) they took the window, soaked it with windex and wrapped it in garbage bags and left it in the sun to remove the metallic film. I thought the idea was nuts, but it worked and there wasn't an ounce of glue to scrape. Obviously this is best done on a hot summer day.

I had mine done with metallic tint. They say it wont change color or fade and if it does they will replace it free. I also had them do the windshield too, makes it nice and cool inside.

Did the laws change, or is still illegal to have tint on the side windows in Michigan. I grew up in Lansing and had the windows tinted on my camaro in high school and got pulled and had to take it off. BTW, your car looks great with the windshield tinted. :cheers:

BTW, 95Purple, your Vette looks 1st class, perfect, can't be better.
Mine has the same rear tinting. But I don't like it;
I am always looking out for Cops & I can't see them that well.
Even though I haven't had a "Ticket" in over ten years.

Yes in most states they are illegal to have the windshield tinted.
Check your state tint laws.
All mine are done though,
Front windshield 20%
sides and back 5%
Never have trouble with the police...but then again The FOP badge helps :thumbs:

I feel if you don't give the police a reason to pull you over they will not bother you about your window tint.
Tinited Corvette's are classic cars, riced out tinted Honda civics with loud bass gain the wrong attention.

When I bought my coupe it had dark tint on the sides as well as on the hatch. I had them remove the side tint. It was a southern car........not legal here in Minnesota. You would definitely get a ticket here for side tint. :nono:
