Sorry to beat a dead horse but I have decided to keep my vette and hop it up a bit. My question is what headers do you recomend ? TPIS, EM, Hookers? I do want to keep all the emissions intact along with bullet cats.... Any advice or pictures would be greatly appreciated... Thanks :beatdeadhorse:
Also, will there be any problems with AFR heads or Lt4 heads when I do a head & cam swap?
I'll give a shot at getting you started here - I'm sure that several other builders will chime in......I did the SLP shortie headers on my '94 coupe and am very happy with the fit and the change in the exhaust note. I can't say that they added anything (RWHP) but they look good and did have some influence in the tone of the exhaust.
As far as heads, I've installed AFR 195's and other than some minor problems with quality, the heads seem to be operating great. My cam and head swap / mod netted a 68 RWHP gain. I was kind of expecting a bit more from the combination but guess everything has worked out to my satisfaction. The car is considerably stronger and throttle response is mighty quick!!
If you are wanting long tubes you may have to do some fabrication to maintain your emissiosn equipment. Hooker 2151's are very nice but they don't have provisiosn for AIR connections. Hooker 2149's are the same header with AIR provisions. The problem is that they are actually for L98 cars and as such the connections are slightly different. Not to say that they won't work, you'll just have to re-work the AIR plumbing.
I think the only way you'll get headers which will use your factory AIR provisions with no modifications would be to go with shorties. The HP gain with these will be minimal at best. They are more for dressing up / cleaning up the engine compartment than they are for any real performance gain.
Stainless works has a set of headers that has all the emisions fittings, air and 02. Got my in a GP and am happy with them but EM also makes a nice set so it would be a toss up if there was no GP.

Re: Headers for a 94 coupe (aeronautica86)
I could swear I've seen hooker longtubes for the LT1/LT4 for sale somewhere on the 'net...maybe I can find them again...
Nope all Hooker LT's are specificly designed for the L98. That doesn't mean they don't work great on a LT-1.
I am happy with my Hooker's here but if I wasn't so concerned about money I definitly would have gotton the Exotic Muscle headers. They are a first class unit specifically fo the LT-1.
