interior lights problem - SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!
As I posted before here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=762097
I have a problem with the buttons not lighting up in my 90 vette. The gauge pod lights up and all the button LED's work, but the lights behind the buttons that light them up do not work. After hours of reading wiring diagrams to figure out the problem, I found the diagnosis flow chart that solved my problem. I found out that the Incandescent Power Driver is bad. Yeah, I never heard of that either. Neother did the dealer, althought the GM shop service manual calls it a "Incandescent Power Driver" , the dealer calls it a I/P dimmer module. P/N 1995263 (yes only 7 digits).
To verify it is the problem and not the dimmer switch, probe the connector on the Incandescent Power Driver located behind the dimmer switch, to the left of the column. It has an aluminum body with heat sinks and is about 4x3x2". Terminal D should have a constant 12 v with the parking lights on. Terminal B should have 12 volts at full dim and decrease in voltage as the dimmer is turned down. Terminal C should be the same as B. Basically, Terminal D is the power supply, B is the input reference from the dimmer switch, and terminal C is the output.
My terminal C had no output.
I will try to get some pics.
Any questions? email me.
