I guess my '96 is getting up there in age because the headliner is sagging bad! I have read about how to install a new cork layer and fabric, but is it possible to make a simple incision and spray adhesive in there, then smooth it out? I know it might not be the perfect fit, but has anyone gone this route?
Interesting!! I was wondering the same thing. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet but seems feasable. Maybe someone will chime in and let us know. If I try it soon I will let you know!!
You could do this, but you will end up having the adhesive bleed through your headliner. I just redid the headliner in my 93. Redoing the Corvette headliner has to be the easiest headliner to do. Take the top off, carefully pry the headliner up. Mine was stuck on with some spray adhesive in the center area of the top. I slid my hand under to separate. Take off the old stuff, rub your hand all over the fiber board to get rid of all the remaining foam from the old headliner. Cut out a new headliner, glue (with spray adhesive) to the fiber board, glue the fiber board to the top and put the top back on. It is very easy! I can see taking the "easy" way out with any other vehicle. The Corvette is just too easy to do a half butt job on, in my opinion.
