Tach problems
1. Water in the main bulkhead connector.
2. Defective tach filter
3. Tach filter not grounded
4. Engine not grounded to uniframe
5. Grounded wire going from the tach filter to the bulkhead connector
6. Grounded wire going from the distributor to the tac filter
7. Grounded wire in the dash going to the cluster
8. Defective cluster.
The most common one is #1, because the bulkhead connector is not sealed. The tach is in the bottom row of the connector. Hope this helps.
