Default External tachometer mounting - help

Has anyone mounted an external tach--one that you can actually SEE when racing (compared with the misplaced instrument panel tach)?

a) Where did you mount it?
b) How did you mount it?
c) electrical connections inboard or through the firewall
Help!

Here's mine. It's a little ghetto but it works. I tapped into the headlight switch and ran the other wire out through a hole I drilled in the firewall. I can see the tach pretty well. I had to rotate it a bit but I can see the important numbers now.

Thanks -- looks effective.
What kind of tach -- is that a 5" diameter?
How did you mount it? Did you make or buy a bracket and drill of what?

It's an EL Cheapo SunPro. It is 5". I mounted it to the center consol via the bracket that came with the Tach. Just drilled into the side of the consol and screwed in the screws. Looks good and you see no wires at all. The only bad thing is that you cannot see the odometer without taking out the tach.

I didn't put in a tach, just the tach light, since I don't look at my dash when I am racing, I just have the light set at where I want to shift.
Anyway, I would think the tach would hook up the same way as the light. I hooked all the wires up under the dash. I did not have to go through the fire wall. Here is a pick of the where I mounted the light.
