Default How to remove "road paint" ?

Here's one for you, a painter drops a can of white paint on the street and it goes every where. I drive through it and it gets inside my wheel wells and the lower rocker panel. It has dried and I want to know if anyone has an idea on how to get it off? I think it's latex, but not sure. I tried thinner, but it doesn't seem to loosen it. Any ideas?

Sorry I can't help but also have this issue.
Previous owner seems to have driven over the yellow line paint so my wheel wells have splatters. Mine is in thick hard globs and trying to wipe them just tears up my rags.
This should be interesting,

Mothers or Clay Magic Clay Bar!

Available at your local auto parts store e.g. Pep Boys, Auto Palace etc.

Take a look in Car Care, there are several articles in there about how to use the clay etc.

I had the same problem on my mustang gt, the clay bar took it right off.

Okay, I have some clay left over from the Zaino Process. I'll give it a try and let you know how it works out.

I used "goo gone" in my wheel wells and it removed ALL the grime

If you have small kids, you will probably have goo gone on a shelf in your house

The wheel wells are ABS plastic that are painted from the factory with a cheap black lacquer. You should be able to chip the paint off. I just finished doing a repaint of the wheel well pieces. Sanded them with 320-grit wet paper and primed with Dupli-Color sandable brack primer and covered that with 3 coats of Dupli-Color Semi-flat black enamel. Looks just like factory and was actually pretty easy to do.

On the lower rocker panels, try some WD-40. 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover should also work.

Would this affect the clear coat?

It shouldn't as long as you dont soak the entire area. I use both to remove road tar and grease. I put some on a rag and wipe the area. If the road tar is thick and had dried some, I let it soak for awhile before I wipe it off.

*89x2* - The inner fender panels on my 92 had never been off the car before and when I decided to remove them for cleaning the chassis and engine, I noticed that I could scrape some sort of black coating off with my fingernails. I could see where some of this material had been taked off from the tires tossing up road debris and sort of sandblasting it. My 92 only has 42K miles and never been driven very long distances (and mostly in dry weather) before my Bowling Green trip out from the Portland, OR area.

Portions of the wheelwells that were covered from overlap of other pieces looked to be the same color as the underside of the hood. So I assumed from seeing the color, that the wheelwell pieces were painted. The inside portions appear to be very smooth and glossy and have no indications of paint.

Interesting - my one 89 that I have owned since new (48k mi) matches my other 89 w/ 5k mi and the 93 w/ 58k mi in texture, no paint...

hmmm...
